Borouge reports optimization in use and plans to extend it abroad

Borouge International says its UAE real-time optimization system covers three ethane crackers and 20 furnaces, analyzing more than 2,500 parameters per minute. It plans to extend the system internationally, including North American sites.

Three crackers and 20 furnaces describe the deployed optimization system. For the Honeywell trial, Borouge reports potential gains of up to 20% in efficiency, 20% less downtime and up to 15% lower operating costs. It gives no measured baseline or achieved result for those percentages.

Limits: The percentages concern potential from the control-room trial. They do not establish performance across the crackers, furnaces or future international sites. The group’s US$100m value goal for 2027 combines AI and digitalization; its annual or cumulative basis, cost bridge and realized net return are undisclosed. Adjacent petrochemical evidence, with no new oilfield adoption or outcome count.
